Los Angeles - Hollywood
Los Angeles downtown is not as populated as you would think however there are plenty of corners to preach on. I have been in and around Pershing Square.
Hollywood has the promenade on about Hollywood & Highland streets. This always has plenty of people.
New York
Because of the size of New York you can go just about anywhere and preach the Gospel to many many people. I would suggest that you go to Manhattan downtown on any corner. Believe it or not there can be a thing such as too many people such as Time square.
Oakland
I usually go down to Broadway, which is the main drag through downtown. You may try 12th, 13th, and 14th streets on Broadway. Franklin, the next block over is ok. Down on Thomas Berkley Way and Webster Street or Thomas Berkley Way and Franklin streets.
Phoenix
Almost anywhere in the downtown area. If you take a look at a map like Goggle or Bing you will see the grid that the city lies on. It is strange that there are tall buildings in two parts of the downtown area separated by quite a difference. One, the smaller section is the area around the state capitol. I never made it to this area while I was there in winter of 2011.
Where I did go was to several corners downtown that during the lunch hour you find plenty of people milling around. Also there are several off shoots of ASU campus which finds many students throughout the day. The main campus is located in Tempe, not far from Phoenix.
Portland
Portland has a lot of places in the downtown area. Within a 3 block radius around Pioneer Square are several good places. There is a college right downtown south of Pioneer Square - PSU. There is the Skidmore fountain area and the riverfront park area as well just to name a few.
San Diego
The first time I preached in San Diego it was along the waterfront. They have quite a boardwalk type of area that includes a marina, shops, restaurants, and the Navy ship "Midway" This is both a tourist area and a place for locals to stroll. It is a great place to preach and I used an amp. Further down is the Seaport Village and it is a good place also, however some of this area is private property so you must watch for that.
In the downtown area I went on the main drag which is Broadway and a few blocks either way. Included in this is the light rail stations they call the trolley. Passengers load and unload here. I also tried preaching in the early morning commute which went well. I rotated on different corners here. On Broadway further down toward the waterfront is the County Courthouse and City Hall type stuff. This proved to be a good place too.
Balboa Park is the second largest park in the country and it is well populated with locals and tourists. I used the amp here with no difficulty. Weekends is the time to go here especially.
San Francisco
At one time I was located in SF for three years so this gave me a lot of experience in finding some good spots. The Mission District and the Castro are places I have been to and it certainly is needed there.The common ones I frequent most are;
Fisherman's Wharf - Pier 39 area is private property and you will be asked to vacate, although I have preached at the far end of their property toward the Embarcadero. Anyway else is ok if you can find a spot. They have the Wharf Street Performers Program that has jurisdiction there. They do have first come first serve areas for people who are not part of that program. Generally on the weekends is busy all year round. In the summer most any day you will find plenty of people to preach to.
Market Street - Anywhere on Market street from the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero to about 7th and Market is a crowded place with lots of corners to preach from. The Financial District on Montgomery is also a good place. Powell & Market where the cable cars turn around, Union Square area,
Seattle
There are a number of places to preach in a city the size of Seattle. I have only been downtown during the lunch hour during the week. This is an area close to Westlake Center on Pine between 4th & 5th avenues. From there you can go in about a 6 block radius and find people on the streets in large numbers.
I have not yet tapped into the many other areas or events. There is the University of Washington District and Capitol Hill, both near downtown. Area events are seasonal, but here are a few: Bumpershoot, Seafair parade and hydroplane races, and other area festivals.
